New OnePlaybook Accounts and Upgrades

by Brian Manning on December 17, 2008

Since the recent news about an update to OnePlaybook, that update has arrived.  Now, coaches can enjoy an even more streamlined Internet application for their playbooks.  In addition, prices have been reduced and accounts can now have an unlimited number of videos, plays, documents, announcements, you name it.  The video quality has also been increased for the new account packages, and a coach no longer has to convert video on their computer.  Instead, the conversion is done all online for them, eliminating another step and letting the coach get back to coaching.

We've also added a special walk-through that will help coaches quickly get familiar with OnePlaybook and the tools they have at their disposal so those sports coaches can take full advantage of everything OnePlaybook has to offer for their teams.  After communicating with individual coaches, ease of use is a big concern, and we want to address that in any way possible.

Other big news includes the introduction of our new 15-day trial period.  This will give athletic coaches a chance to test OnePlaybook for themselves without any risk whatsoever.  So, for any coach who isn't using our Internet playbook, come check out the trial version, we know you'll be happy.

Upcoming Changes

by Brian Manning on December 9, 2008

There are going to be some major changes to OnePlaybook very soon and many of those changes have to do with the account structures.  Because of this, every current team will be able to continue using their old package, or may choose to change to one of the new packages.  In effect, if they choose to be, they are "grandfathered" in with their old package.

One of those changes is that the limited-time free account will not be available for new sign-ons.  Trial accounts will be made available; however, the free accounts as they currently stand will no longer be available for new teams.

When the changes do take place, we will be able to provide you with concrete details of the changes and what they mean.

Feedback from Coaches

by Brian Manning on December 4, 2008

We've been getting some great feedback from coaches about what they want to see in OnePlaybook, and there are always more people to hear from.  So, use our contact form and let us know what you're looking for.  What would make your life easier and what do you need?

Since OnePlaybook was recently covered in an ABC News article about football and technology, we've had some new sign ups, putting us over 250 teams, and we would love to hear from those new teams as well.  The article is a good read and features quotes from Kevin Morris of UMass, a user of OnePlaybook, and Brian Manning, our president, so we definitely recommend it.

Over 200 Teams

by Brian Manning on November 19, 2008

On Monday of this week, OnePlaybook reached 200 team memberships, only 27 days after reaching 100 athletic teams.

With the '08-'09 basketball season on the horizon, many coaches have started requesting new features, and everyone will be able to see those soon.  As always, contact us about software changes you want, and we'll continue to keep you updated on recent changes and developments with OnePlaybook.

OnePlaybook Increases Flexibility for Coaches

by Brian Manning on November 11, 2008

Do you like OnePlaybook, but you're only going to use it for a few months each year? Only want a little space on OnePlaybook? Do you know exactly what you're looking for?

OnePlaybook is letting you decide what you want. With our new Flex and Custom packages, a coach can choose to pay month-to-month based on what they use, or they can decide exactly how much space they need. Either way, it adds up to more savings for coaches. In addition, all packages now come with the first 10 minutes of video (100 MB of space) free each month, that's double for the free accounts from the last version!

The Flex plan allows a coach to pay each month for the average amount of space they used in the previous month. This gives the coach the ability to use more space when they need it, and pay less when they don't need that space, without any long-term commitment.

The Custom package gives the coach the option to decide the amount of space they get. So, they don't get too much or too little, they get exactly what they want, which is always just right.

As always, all packages come with unlimited transfers (uploads and downloads), so you never have to worry about everyone on your teamnot being able to watch your videos or get your documents.

We're committed to giving coaches exactly what they want and need, and flexibility is just one of those things. What else did we add for this release? There are some minor cosmetic changes throughout OnePlaybook, as well as a new service that allows you to take longer to draw your plays. Coaches have been reporting that they want more time to draw individual plays, and now they have it. Your OnePlaybook account is still protected, and if a player leaves his computer unattended, he will still be logged out.

Finally, what can you look forward to? For one, we're going to give you more video options so you can make the most out of your video and the space you have. We're also going to give coaches the ability to make their team "inactive." This way, we will keep your data safe between seasons, where no one will able to touch it, at a lower cost. Again, this gives a coach even more flexibility, and he doesn't have to remove his files at the end of the season or add them back at the beginning of the next or worry about losing them in the meantime.

Over 100 Teams

by Brian Manning on October 24, 2008

On Tuesday of this week, OnePlaybook reached the milestone of having 100 teams.  That number of teams is just since its public release this past August, and things are only picking up.  With more and more coaches registering their teams every day, that upward trend of new teams has been quickly increasing.

With all of these new teams, we're hearing feedback on what features coaches want to see in OnePlaybook.  That being said, what else can we do to help your teams?  What do you want to see in OnePlaybook?  Use our contact form and let us know!

OnePlaybook Upgrades

by Brian Manning on September 29, 2008

OnePlaybook received some upgrades this weekend.  A few behind-the-scenes updates were included, but what teams will notice the most is that there are "quick play" buttons in the video section and a coach can now send announcements to the team via email.

The "quick play" buttons allow a player or coach to immediately being playing a team's video.  Prior to this, a player or coach would click on the name and then press play, now they have an option of immediately playing that video.

When a coach posts an announcement, he or she can now also send that announcement as an email to the entire team.  This way, a coach can make sure that his players know about the announcement and are always up to date.

How to Work Twice as Fast With Snips

by Brian Manning on September 22, 2008

OnePlaybook as an innovative system for drawing new plays called snips.  Normally when a coach wants to diagram a play for his coaches, he has to draw the whole thing or he can cut and paste parts of it from one diagram to the next.

With OnePlaybook's online play editor, a coach can use snips to do this for them.  What is a snip?  It is a part of a play that a coach is going to use over and over again.  For football, that might be a defensive alignment.  For baseball, it might be normal field positions.  For men's lacrosse, it might be a 3-2-1 formation.  Whatever the sport, there are parts of a diagram that are going to be constantly used.  Those parts can be drawn as snips.

When a coach is then drawing a play, he can load those snips he had drawn before, making it easier to draw many alignments and looks against different defenses and situations far faster than if he was going to draw each one seperately, allowing him to work twice as fast (or more!).

Some Updates To Look Forward To

by Brian Manning on September 10, 2008

Our online playbook and team management software is updated at least once a month, with everything from minor visual updates to major interface changes.  A couple of new updates that users can look forward to this month are team-wide emails and fast-play video buttons.

Right now, coaches can write announcements, but in the next update, coaches will be able to not only write those announcements on the announcement board, but also send that information to their entire team instantly.  So, instead of having to write a mass email, instead a coach can click a checkbox, and the work is done for them.

As for a team's online sports video, when a player or coach selects a video, then can choose to play it as streaming video or progressive video.  This choice depends on their connection speed, with streaming for faster connections and progressive for slower.  The update will take out the first step. Now there will be buttons that not only select the video, but immediately start playing it as well, making it even easier for a team to play video.

These are just a couple of things teams can look forward to and I will keep you posted about both when these updates are available and other things to look forward to as well.
